PSIRF Oversight and Assurance Workshop

Thank you for your interest in the virtual PSIRF oversight and assurance workshop.   The training is designed to meet the competency requirements of PSIRF for those in an oversight role.   I hope it will be thought provoking and a chance as leaders to discuss what opportunities and challenges the new NHS framework offers to organisations and how to best reflect that in your policies, plans and actions.

What we’ll be covering:

• From SIF to PSIRF – the changes you can expect and the potential for a new mindset and the associated competencies.
• What is a ‘proportionate response’ to a safety incident?
• What are the governance processes around proportionate responses and what should a good systems-based investigation look like?
• How can we move away from compliance-based oversight?
• What are the benefits of compassionate engagement and how can oversight influence just culture?
• The ‘so what’ for duty of candour, Coroners’ Inquests and the CQC
• What should recommendations and action plans hope to achieve and how might that be tested?
• How good are we at understanding and defining residual risk in our system? Can we use this as an opportunity to be more proactive when it comes to safety and reducing risk to as low as reasonably practical (ALARP)?
